North Ayrshire Museum, Saltcoats, Ayrshire - NS ?

Originally a dial with inscription this dial was a key element of the South elevation of this 1744 church. However, the dial has been replaced within the past 30 years presumably due to weathering as the inscription beneath it is now so worn as to be unintelligible.

The building was the church of the Ardrossan Parish from 1744 until 1911 when a new church was built. It then spent time as a furniture warehouse until it became a museum in 1957.

This small museum and its surroundings have more connections to my family than I ever like to think about. I'm not going to tell them now but I am going to put up a picture of a rainwater pipe which though not beautiful or gnomonics related is integral to the story.
