John Knox's House

A dial with two faces on an angle of the building

A dial that i have passed dozens if not hundreds of times but finally I did so with camera in hand on a sunny day.

It is a particularly finely carved dial largely due to the material - slate. It would have been of tremendous use to Edinburgh folk when it was first built and is in a very prominent position just where the High Street constricts due to the ancient change in boundary from Royal Burgh to Abbey Burgh.

Notice the writing around the building in old Lallands Scots.
